JiFFest Indonesian Feature Film Competition 2008

Due to the ongoing airport strike in Bangkok, Thailand, we regret to inform you that Kong Rithdee (director, film critic, Thailand) will not be able to attend this year's 10th JiFFest 2008. His capacity in the fest as one of the jury members for JiFFest Indonesian Feature Film Competition will be replaced by Paolo Bertolin, main programmer for Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy. He is also a member of the selecting committee of Venice International Film Festival. Since 2004, he has worked as a film critic and reporter, focusing prevalently on films from East and South-East Asia. Two other jury members in the competition remain the same: Russell Edwards (film critic, Australia) and Rudy Tjio (film buyer, distributor, Germany). Ten selected films in this year's competition are: Fiksi, Get Married, In the Name of Love, Laskar Pelangi, Love, May, Mereka Bilang Saya Monyet!, Perempuan Punya Cerita, Quickie Express, and Radit & Jani. The competition will bestow Best Indonesian Feature and Best Indonesian Director awards. Previous winners in the competition include Denias Senandung di Atas Awan (Best Indonesian Feature, 2006), Rudi Soedjarwo for 9 Naga (Best Indonesian Director, 2006), 3 Days to Forever (Best Indonesian Feature, 2007) and Deddy Mizwar for Nagabonar Jadi 2 (Best Indonesian Director, 2007). ------------------------------------ Sehubungan dengan ditutupnya Bandara Svarnabhumi di Bangkok, Thailand, yang masih berlangsung hingga saat ini, kami mengabarkan bahwa Kong Rithdee (sutradara, kritikus film, Thailand) tidak dapat hadir di JiFFest ke-10 tahun 2008 ini. Dua anggota juri lainnya dalam kompetisi ini tetap tak berubah: Russel Edwards (kritikus film, Australia) dan Rudy Tjio (pembeli film, distributor, Jerman).
